I Missed Him
When the leaves turned red,
When the daylight sped,
When the dewdrops were shed,
I missed him.
When the air became colder,
When the sky got smoulder,
When I needed a shoulder,
I missed him.
When the lips became dry,
Yet the mind wanted to pry,
For something I had to try,
I missed him.
When the park-benches got forlorn,
And I had to stay home alone,
Yet there was no ring on the phone,
I missed him.
When the night never ended,
And the stars were offended,
But I still pretended,
I missed him.
When the dawn came late,
Through the golden gate,
Though I wanted to hate,
I missed him. |
